    A Collectors’ Guide

    by Jean Scott

  1. Jean Scott’s research into the origin and history of the microphotographic collectables known as “Stanhopes” resulted in the 2002 publication of her first book: “Stanhopes: A Closer View”. This was awarded “Book of the Year” by the American Photographic Historical Society now out of print.

During the next twenty years, Jean’s husband Ken photographed many Stanhope novelties shared with them by collector-friends around the world. He also experimented to achieve the best possible enlargements of the images they concealed. When Ken died in 2017, Jean was determined to preserve his photographic portfolio to benefit both longterm and new collectors. “Stanhopes: A Collectors’ Guide” a companion volume to her first book is illustrated by a large selection from these records and is Jean’s loving memorial to Ken and their lifetime shared interest in these fascinating antique collectables.

  1. “Discovering and selecting PrintBrain to publish my book “Stanhopes: A Collectors’ Guide” proved an inspired choice.

Advice in arranging the text and many illustrations was readily available, as were suggestions for suitable types of paper, font and layout. Producing a new factual volume for specific collectors requires scrupulous checking and I acknowledge and admire Jake Dowrick’s endless patience in dealing with my frequent amendments.

Book publication today is quite different from when my first volume was produced twenty years ago, but PrintBrain helped me adjust to the changes easily, resulting in a useful book to complete a gap in the antiques market.”
